  • Inspection Book on Form-35 is now available at the Reception Counter of Our Department.
  • The list of drugs which do not require supervision of a Registered Pharmacist for sale/distribution under licence(s) on Form 20-A and 21-A has been revised.   Certain drugs which have become obsolete or are no more available in the market have been deleted while some of the important drugs which are considered to be more useful viz. Zinc sulphate tablets/syrup have been included.  For details contact the duty officer.
  • The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has banned the manufacture, sales and distribution of Gatifloxacin & Tegaserod and their formulations vide notification no. G.S.R. 218(E) dated 16.03.2011.

The text of the notification published on 31.03.2011 by Ministry in newspaper is given hereunder:-

MINISTRY OF HEALTH & FAMILY WELFARE

(Department of Health & Family Welfare)

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 16th March, 2011

G.S.R. 218(E).-Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that use of the following  drugs is likely to involve certain risks to human beings and whereas safer alternatives to the said drugs are available;

And whereas the Central Government is satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to prohibit the manufacture, sale and distribution of the said drugs in public interest;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940), the Central Government hereby prohibits the manufacture, sale and distribution of the following drugs with immediate effect, namely  :-

  1. Gatifloxacin formulation for systemic use in human by any route including oral and injectable;
  2.  ​and Tegaserod and its formulations for human use.
  • Drugs Control Department Government of NCT of Delhi enforces the different provisions of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 and the rules framed   the under. The preamble of the said Act reads as under:

    “An Act to control the advertisement of drugs in certain cases, to prohibit the advertisement for certain purposes of remedies alleged to possess magic qualities and provide for matters connected therewith”.

    Drugs Control Department during the period August 2010 to December 2010 has filed six cases before the competent court in Delhi against persons/publishers who had taken part in the publication of different advertisements which had contravened the provisions of the Drugs & Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
  • Any person who comes across any advertisement(s) which in his/her opinion is false/misreading with respect to any drug can approach any of the following officers either personally or on phone during normal working hours:-

  • Suitable action in the matter under the Drugs & Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 will taken in case such advertisements are found to be contravening any of the provision of the said Act.
